Shears Hairdressing Academy

Shears Academy
Has been successfully delivering hairdressing training since 1984 at our training academy based in Catford, south-east London.

If you have a knack for style and fashion and a passion for hair styling then becoming a Hairdresser may be the right career choice for you. Being a hair dresser can be very rewarding as it can be well paid and always in demand. One way of entering the industry could be through an Apprenticeship experience. Apprenticeships are a great way to get your foot in the door and get the hang of how the industry actually operates. In addition to that, successful completion of your Apprenticeship will equip you with transferable skills and hands-on industry experience – both of which are exactly the skills employers seek!

A typical Hairdressing Apprenticeship training will introduce you to the basic elements of hairdressing, covered from both aspects: Practical and Theoretical.  During your Apprenticeship you will be paid a decent wage which will be enough to cover your basic living expenses. However, upon completion of your training, you will have a recognized professional qualification to your name which will assist you in your journey to finding full-time work. Note that the Hair dressing industry is fun, creative, busy as well as demanding. The work can sometimes be challenging, but that is outweighed by the rewards and if you've got an artistic flair along with a willingness to work hard, then you are bound to go a long, long way in this profession.
