City & Guilds – NVQ Level 2 in Barbering - 1 session per week: Tuesdays at 4.30pm
Our Apprenticeship in Barbering includes 9 units:
4 of which are specific barbering techniques:

GB3 – Cut hair using barbering techniques

GB4 – Cut facial hair to shape using basic techniques

GB5 – Dry and finish men’s hair

AH21 – Create basic patterns in hair
5 further units must be achieved (which can be accredited from prior learning by recent* hairdressing apprenticeship achievers):

G20 – Make sure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety

G7 – Advise and consult with clients
-
GH8 - Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp

G4 - Fulfill salon reception duties
-
G17 - Give clients a positive impression of yourself and your organisation
* Where a learner achieved their hairdressing NVQ on old standards, it will be necessary to re-sit the 5 new standards listed above, but as a learner with prior achievement, you will be able to fast-track your progression to achieve the full Barbering Apprenticeship.
Essential knowledge is assessed at the Academy by oral questioning and on-line testing.
Practical assessment takes place on training days at the academy, and also in your salon, by prior arrangement with your employer.
